Phytomedicine and Integrative Health Journal (PIHJ) is published using the Open Journal Systems (OJS) platform developed by the Public Knowledge Project (PKP). OJS is an open-source journal management and publishing system that ensures a transparent, efficient, and standardized publishing process.

Key Features of the Publishing System

  1. Manuscript Submission and Tracking
    • Authors submit manuscripts directly through the OJS online platform.
    • The system allows authors to track the status of their submissions in real time.
  2. Peer Review Management
    • The OJS platform supports thedouble-blind peer review process, ensuring anonymity between authors and reviewers.
    • Reviewers are able to submit comments and recommendations securely through the system.
  3. Editorial Workflow
    • Editors manage submissions from initial screening to final decision within the system.
    • Communication between authors, reviewers, and editors is centralized, documented, and accessible only to authorized users.
  4. Copyediting and Production
    • Once accepted, manuscripts go through copyediting, proofreading, and layout preparation using the platform.
    • Final versions are uploaded inPDF, HTML, or XML formats to ensure accessibility across devices.
  5. Open Access Publishing
    • PIHJ follows anopen-access policy, with all articles published freely available online immediately upon release.
    • The OJS platform integrates with indexing services and metadata harvesting (via OAI-PMH) to maximize visibility.
  6. Archiving and Preservation
    • PIHJ content is preserved through thePKP Preservation Network (PN) and other archiving systems such as LOCKSS/CLOCKSS, ensuring long-term accessibility.
